Yes, it’s his job, but Ryan Farber speaks about the West Hollywood Design District with such unguarded enthusiasm that it’s easy to forget he’s the executive director. And, as he likes to point out, he was born at Cedars, works at the Pacific Design Center and lives within the district. We met at the PDC on a meltingly hot August day to discuss DIEM , which, this year, will take place on Nov. 13. Not to be confused with the assassinated president of South Vietnam, DIEM stands for Design Intersects Everything Made. It’s a one-day event consisting of talks that encompass the worlds of art, design, fashion and food, held in a series of showrooms within walking distance of one another, starting on Melrose Avenue, moving down Robertson and ending on Beverly Boulevard. The talks are free of charge, but reservations must be made starting in October.
