Everyone from Rod Stewart to Richard Burton were regulars at the British pub Cock’n Bull before they closed the doors in 1987 after 50 years in business. Known for potpies and trifle pudding, the low-key English tavern was frequented by celebrities who loved the vibe because no one bothered them—paparazzi were not allowed to hassle the regulars at this west Sunset Strip watering hole. The bar, where the Moscow Mule was reportedly invented, was also a writer’s hangout, a place where Somerset Maugham was known to have spent hours socializing back in the day.
