On a bright Monday afternoon, a day post-Coachella, I sat outside Verve Coffee Roasters in West Hollywood with photographer and creative director Vika Petlakh. Her work is stunning, and graces this issue’s cover. Equally as stunning is this young talent. At 5 feet 10 inches tall and 22-years-old, Petlakh is not far off from the subjects she captures.
As we sat sipping chai tea lattes—almond milk, of course— Petlakh detailed for me the path of her budding, impressive career. Within an hour, it was easy to see how she’s gotten so far so fast. On top of being insanely talented, not to mention self-taught, there is this innate level of wisdom and spirituality feeding her vision. She’s remarkably insightful; it’s undeniable.
