When you think about celebrity-spotting in Los Angeles, your mind probably jumps to actors, actresses, and musicians first. The entertainment industry, after all, is why we associate the area, and Los Angeles overall, with celebrities. That said, the whole city has really become a hub for famous people from all different backgrounds and professions, from movie stars and Grammy winners to businesspeople and political figures. And in the middle of it all, there are a lot of famous athletes in the area, both from LA’s own professional teams and from the sports world at large.
This is a list of just a few of the athletes you might run into around West Hollywood.
LeBron James
LeBron James is the biggest thing in Hollywood now, athlete or otherwise. He’s actually not entirely new on the scene either, even if he only just started a stint with the Los Angeles Lakers. James bought a house in LA in 2015, and now supposedly owns another in Brentwood. That, plus the fact that a good chunk of the NBA now either lives in LA or spends summers there, means you’re actually more likely to spot James out and about than a lot of other celebrities. He doesn’t have a major reputation for hitting the clubs, but he’s dipping his toes into enough side ventures that he’s sure to be out and about relatively often, and he’s also known to be a wine (and presumably fine dining) enthusiast, which gives him another reason to get out in West Hollywood or neighboring areas. One thing’s for sure: the man who’s assumed the mantle of “The King” is hard to miss, so if he’s out where you are, you’ll notice.
Todd Gurley
Todd Gurley may have been the biggest sports star in town before James made his move to the Lakers. The ultra-talented running back is a superstar for the LA Rams, who despite being new in town have amassed something of a following. So far in the 2018 season, Gurley is making a bid for LaDainian Tomlinson’s all-time record for rushing touchdowns in a season, which means his profile should only be expanding in LA. He’s another imposing figure who’s hard to miss, though he lives out in Chatsworth. Still, he’s been spotted out and about enjoying the LA nightlife, and there’s every chance you might spot him in West Hollywood.

Clayton Kershaw
Clayton Kershaw is another LA athlete you may have seen in the news lately given the Dodgers’ trip to the World Series. Baseball doesn’t quite command the same enthusiasm as the NBA or NFL these days, but as an overview of World Series tips recently put it, it all culminates in the Fall Classic. There’s just something special about October baseball, and while Kershaw couldn’t help the Dodgers win this time, every player involved enjoys a brighter spotlight. Not to mention he’s one of the most talented pitchers in the sport! Kershaw is said to live in Studio City, so it’s not at all a stretch to imagine you may see him out and about.

Lonzo Ball
Lonzo Ball is a fascinating figure on the LA sports scene right now. Some see him as a player likely to be traded as the team looks to build a more experienced roster around LeBron James. However, he’s played well enough that others are saying he should start, and suggesting he could be a long-term point guard. If the latter comes to fruition he’ll be a major city figure for a long time to come, and people will learn to recognize him out in the city. Ball was supposedly living at the Ritz Carlton at LA Live for a time, though there are also reports he bought a $5.2 million mansion last year, so it’s a little hazy at this point.
