Pioneers: Jeremy and Ro Morrow from Lord Henry’s Victuals
Like many people who move to La-La Land, Jeremy and Ro Morrow had big dreams. Prior to moving here they used to own a bar in Reno, Nevada, and due to circumstances beyond their control, they had to give it up. That is when they decided to throw their hat in the ring in West Hollywood. Being that they are both musicians, and also entrepreneurs, it’s no surprise they landed here.
Homeless for a bit but ever tenacious, they never lost hope. Now, having lived in West Hollywood for more than a year, they have been fortunate enough to have met some amazing people on their journey, all of whom have helped them get to where they are now. Both Ro and Jeremy have chosen the service industry as their passion. Lord Henry’s Victuals inside The Bayou on Santa Monica Boulevard is their new venture. Their goal is to make people happy through the art of food and drink. The quote they live by: “Work is the curse of the drinking class.” — Oscar Wilde
Why do you choose to live and work in West Hollywood?
All the boys are easy on the eyes even my husband thinks so. People are so willing and loving to extend the olive branch, even if you are a stranger. You can walk everywhere. The world is your oyster in WeHo. Clean, friendly, fun and dog friendly! My husband and I do not have time to have a little furry baby, but I am lucky enough to see all the cute dogs on the boulevard every day.
What are three things you can’t live without in the city?
There is nothing my hubby and I love more than to belly up to a bar and enjoy great food. Lord Henry’s Victuals inside The Bayou on Santa Monica Boulevard is our new venture. We love the atmosphere and feel at home opening the restaurant with The Bayou owners Matt Chase and Gram Northwood. Welcome to WeHo’s classiest dive bar now with Portland- style bar food.We love the Gym Bar, great bartenders, great service, and great two-for-one specials.Gym bar took us in, loved us and made us feel welcome even when we had not showered in three days. We shower now.
Viper Room!
Being that my husband and I moved out here with his band Merkin, Viper room gave them their first gig in L.A. Haunted, but a complete gem, it’s one of the best venues for music in West Hollywood.
If you had a magic wand, what changes or additions would you like to see in West Hollywood? And what would you never change?
If I had a magic wand I would change my husband back into the frog that I kissed as a princess — so we need to install a lily pond. On a serious note, if we could change anything about West Hollywood, it would be as follows: Less pizza on Santa Monica Boulevard and more variety. You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a pizza place.
One day out of the year, we all become unicorns. No, seriously. Things that we would never change: the rainbow intersections, the pride in who we are, the love that we, as a community, show for each other. Beauty and bravery is West Hollywood to us.
