Austin is, by far, the coolest city (not to mention most liberal) in the Lone Star State. Its hip hotels, innovative restaurants, fashion, art galleries and walkable blocks of bars and music venues near a picturesque river and big-town skyline might explain why it’s recently been tagged as the top city to visit for the LGBT community, and the influx of L.A. transplants isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
This small town with a big spirit hosts one of the hottest tickets in the film, interactive media and music biz, the SXSW conference, every spring. It’s also home to the popular, long-running and ongoing Austin City Limits live musical performance series televised from the University of Texas, and this fall, the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix will roll through.
