As the weather cools down, local favorite hotspot Yamashiro is shifting its popular “Lucky 7” happy hour indoors to the lounge Monday through Thursday from 5-8 p.m. with handcrafted cocktails, sushi and light Asian-fusion dishes, all priced at $7 each.
Bites range from ahi poke, crispy chicken, and salt and pepper fried calamari, to banana leaf baked pork spring rolls and crispy chicken from new Executive Chef Christophe Bonnegrace. Sushi lovers can enjoy selections including truffle hamachi, spicy tuna crispy rice, pistachio salmon and the “Reclining Buddha,” a shrimp and jalapeno roll. Specialty cocktails, including the refreshing “Japanese Slipper” and “100 Year Mai Tai,” along with red and white wine, prosecco and draft beer are also available. New vegan options include marinated grilled vegetables skewer with peanut butter sauce, teriyaki tofu and vegetables, and steamed vegetable dumplings.

“We made these changes to better accommodate our customers as we head into the cooler fall and winter months,” says BNG Founder Freddy Braidy. “There’s no better place to relax at the end of a long day while enjoying these stunning views of our great city.”
The change inward will make way for a new deck with seating to overlook the Pagoda Bar. The platform will be covered with heating and is anticipated to open by the end of the year.
Yamashiro is located at 1999 Sycamore Ave. and open 5-11 p.m. weekdays and 5 p.m. to midnight on weekends. Reservations can be made through OpenTable, via phone 323.466.5125 or email info@yamashirohollywood.com.

ABOUT YAMASHIRO
Originally built in 1914 as a private residence, Yamashiro (“Mountain Palace” in Japanese) took its inspiration from the classical Asian art and architecture that was the passion and business of its original owners the Bernheimer brothers. Over its 102-year life, it’s taken on many identities including a brothel and a boarding house, before becoming a private cocktail lounge for the golden era of the Hollywood elite in 1963. A full-service restaurant soon followed, ultimately catapulting Yamashiro into a world-famous dining destination in the 1970s and ’80s. The property’s regal Asian influences and breathtaking, 180-degree views from downtown Los Angeles to the Santa Monica shore have been featured in popular films such as Memoirs of a Geisha, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Kill Bill, as well as numerous travel shows. Purchased by JE Group in April 2016, Yamashiro is now managed by BNG Group and Sugar Factory Group. The restaurant also welcomed new executive chef Christophe Bonnegrace (formerly of Buddha Bar & Little Buddha in Las Vegas), who is overseeing a revamp of the Asian Fusion-inspired menu. The new owners and operators plan to elevate the dining and lounge experience while restoring several of the property’s original design elements, in keeping with its landmark status.
