If you’ve ever wondered who might be the quintessential family-man-by-day, party-animal-by-night, look no further. DJ and music producer Zen Freeman, who has set the mood for the world’s most well-known A-list parties for more than a decade (think celeb studded shindigs at the Cannes Film Festival and Chanel and Burberry fashion shows), lives in L.A. and is a die-hard West Hollywood junkie.
“One of my favorite gigs of my entire life is the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval,” the music aficionado says. “The year before last, I played a two-hour set. It was amazing because it was outside, with good sound, loud music, and under the stars. There were so many people pushed up to the stage, I could get a ‘woo woo,’ or pull the volume down on the song and they would sing. My warm-up was Kevin Systrom, the founder of Instagram, who is an amazing DJ but just chooses to be a billionaire and make amazing tech companies.”
