The much-talked-about two-level space along the buzzing corridor of La Cienega and Melrose now holds E.P. & L.P – a 3,400-square-foot dining room called E.P. Asian Eating House on the first level (the E.P. stands for extended play, and L.P. for long play.) The ‘long play’ takes place on the second level featuring a 5,500-square-foot alfresco rooftop restaurant and a 21-foot-long bar that has never been attempted in this area — apart from a few Sunset Strip hotels. “We like to call that part ‘night food,’ says award-winning Australian Chef Louis Tikaram, who has been imported to helm the kitchen.
Developed by Australian restaurateurs Botanical Hospitality Group, David Combes and Grant Smillie — also a celebrated DJ and record label executive, the team has also tapped renowned Australian design studio, Projects of Imagination from Melbourne, for the multilevel space with touches of copper, green onyx, antique mirrors and neon signage. Adding to that eclectic mix of personalities and design esthetic, Axwell, DJ of Swedish House Mafia fame, is also involved as an investor — but we are assured that the venue will not be a club-style atmosphere.
