WHAT: On Monday, September 14 at 7pm, E.P. & L.P.—Los Angeles’ modern Asian eating house and rooftop—in collaboration with Bonhams auction house will decant a rare assortment of vintage Australian wine. Limited to only 40 seats, the intimate eight-course wine pairing dinner ($145/person; all-inclusive) crafted by Executive Chef Louis Tikaram will include a never-before-seen auction preview of pairings from exceptional bottles including back vintages of Penfolds, Yalumba, Tyrrell’s, and d’Arenberg, to name a select few.
E.P. & L.P.’s Wine Director Kelsey Glasser and Bonhams L.A. Wine Director Walker Strangis will pour from more than 20 fine Australian wines in advance of the rare Australian wine auction on Friday, September 18. This private collection of prized wines, built over many years and valued at upwards of $250,000, includes varietals rarely seen in the U.S.
Complementing the wine selection, Tikaram, an Australian native, will create an eight-course menu of modern Asian cuisine to exclusively pair with the featured vintage wines. The multi-course dinner will showcase flavors from Fiji, Thailand, Vietnam, India, and celebrate Tikaram’s Fijian-Chinese-Indian heritage alongside his modern South Pacific fare, combining native ingredients and ancient cooking techniques passed down from his Fijian-Chinese grandmother. Hand-squeezed coconut milk, seawater marinades, and wood fire grilling are just a few methods to showcase nutrient-rich root vegetables—such as taro, cassava, and sweet potato—coconuts, and seafood on the primarily gluten- and dairy-free menu.
