In an exciting new partnership with The Cinefamily, Barnsdall Art Park Foundation is kicking-off their Wine & a Movie fundraising series on Sunday, September 4th through October 2nd. The magical fall season of movies will take place on the lush West Lawn of Frank Lloyd Wright’s famed Hollyhock House, debuting with Bowie Tribute Night: Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Other feature films include Jules et Jim, Black Orpheus and Fellini Satyricon.
The weekly event runs from 5:30 p.m. until late with the movies beginning at sundown—shown on a high-resolution outdoor screen with superior surround sound—atop scenic Olive Hill at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. Tickets cost $25 for the screening and sips and those 21 years and older are invited to sip wine, picnic and watch a curated selection of incredible screenings.
The Cinefamily is a nonprofit organization of movie lovers presenting weird and wonderful films. “Cinefamily Everywhere” is their new program devoted to bringing world-class, innovative programming to patrons all over Los Angeles. Every show will have DJs and pre-show entertainment, and, a variety of hosts and surprise guests will introduce each screening. Patrons can enjoy a curated selection of wines by San Antonio Winery as well as some of LA’s finest food trucks.

Sept. 4th: Bowie Tribute Night with Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - A Cinefamily Bowie Mixtape of Rarities, followed by a screening of D.A. Pennebaker’s Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars co-presented by Cinespia. To complement, the Stardust String Quartet will play classically-arranged Bowie, while guests sip wine under the stars.
Sept. 11th: Jules et Jim Picnic - Co-presented by La Collectionneuse, Décadanse Soirée who will deliver French tunes and Zebulon LA, the newest outpost by the beloved Brooklyn music cafe, which will curate live music. Patrons will experience a moonlit picnic while watching one of the greatest French films of all time.
Sept 18th: Black Orpheus with a Tribute to Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro – Now one the world’s greatest Samba players, LA-based Carlinhos was a child star in this Brazilian classic and will present the film. On this day, Barnsdall pays tribute to this important and influential musical ambassador with a Roda de Choro,” a musical jam, hosted by Thalma De Freitus and other incredible musicians.
Sept 25th: An Evening of EXPANDED Cinema on 16mm - Presented by Cinespia Salons, the thrilling evening will feature the greatest experimental, exploratory, and psychedelic filmmakers on 16mm with Jordan Belson, John Whitney, Pat O’Neill and more.
Oct. 2nd: Fellini Satyricon with pre-feast - Join us for a late-summer Satyricon-style feast en plein air and witness the wildest Roman spectacle of them all while we revel in a film that makes no sense!
