Fifth annual event features silent and live art auctions and cocktail reception, and raises critically needed funds for those living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County
Art Project Los Angeles, an exclusive art auction and VIP cocktail event benefiting AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), returns to Bonhams auction house in Hollywood on Saturday, June 6. The fifth annual event will offer a dazzling array of art up for bid, with proceeds supporting the services and programs APLA and APLA Health & Wellness provide thousands of Angelenos every year.
The event kicks off on Friday, June 5, when the public is invited to view hundreds of works of art. The Saturday main event will offer a dazzling array of art up for bid, along with a star-studded cocktail party. Past auctions have featured works from esteemed artists such as Ed Ruscha, Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey, Andy Warhol, and David Hockney, to name just a few. Auction items will range from photography and paintings to furniture, sculpture, and other unique pieces.

In honor of the event’s fifth anniversary, Art Project Los Angeles recently held a juried competition, providing artists the chance to become the event’s featured artist. The winner, who will be selected shortly, will not only be included in the live auction, but will also be prominently featured in the Art Project catalog.
“We couldn’t be happier to celebrate Art Project’s fifth anniversary and partner once again with Bonhams,” APLA and APLA Health & Wellness Chief Executive Officer Craig E. Thompson says. “Los Angeles is home to many world-class artists and a great community of art lovers, so this will be a wonderful night that will also do a lot of good for the thousands of people we serve every year.”
Proceeds from Art Project Los Angeles support a variety of vital services that APLA and APLA Health & Wellness offer to over 12,000 Angelenos every year, including: primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care services; HIV testing and STD screening; the Vance North Necessities of Life Program food pantries; in-home health services; housing assistance; and HIV prevention efforts among many others.
Art Project Los Angeles is supported by a host of generous sponsors: premier sponsors include Bonhams and Hamilton-Selway Fine Art; grand sponsors include Comerica Bank, Ed Ruscha, and HBO; supporting sponsors include Angel City Brewery and Leslie Barclay of Southern Wine and Spirits; and media sponsors include Here Media and Metrosource.
