TREVOR PROJECT PHOTO ART RAFFLE BENEFIT
The Round Hole Square Peg photography exhibition opens Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 6-9 pm, in West Hollywood’s Long Hall Gallery. Sponsored by The City of West Hollywood’s WeHo Arts Program and West Hollywood Lifestyle Magazine, the opening night reception will benefit The Trevor Project - the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth.
Three framed photographic artworks are available for on-line raffle ticket purchase and at the opening night reception. Raffle tickets are $10 each. Winners need not be present to win. Each photo art piece was donated by the artist to benefit the Trevor Project. To purchase raffle tickets visit: https://roundholesquarepeg.submittable.com/submit
“The world is changing for LGBTQ people,” Phil Tarley, founder of Round Hole Square Peg tells West Hollywood Lifestyle. “In 2018, dark Trumpian clouds are forming and threatening to roll back hard-won civil rights. The religious right is ramping up its homophobic and transphobic attacks. By showing positive, sincere images that reflect our true queer lives, we can stay visible in a world that wants us to disappear. I am grateful to the City of West Hollywood for supporting our freedom to mount this historic exhibition.”
The Long Hall gallery show will present all of the artist-photographers from the Round Hole Square Peg competition and include an expanded, curated Wall of Fame presenting top LGBTQ photographers and making this show one of the largest exhibitions of queer photographic art ever staged. More than 600 images were entered from nine different countries. Each image was carefully juried and fifty artists had their work printed and framed especially for this exhibition. A Special Recognition Award will be given to an emerging West Hollywood photographer chosen by Fabrik Projects Gallery Director and Producer of the Photo Independent Art Fair Chris Davies. DJ Paul V from Dragstrip 66 will be spinning throughout the opening night celebration. Admission is free. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served. The exhibition will run through March 17, 2018
