Driving through the chic Sunset Plaza Drive section of West Hollywood, the imposing asymmetrical structure of Westime watch company looks like something out of a time capsule. The futuristic 6,500-square-foot store structure was designed by Wick Architecture & Design and LAND , and it remains one of the most eye-catching standalone structures in the city since its opening in 2012. Amid the tony restaurants and boutiques and legendary nightclubs of the Sunset Strip, the design reflects the bold buildings and signage of the area. Perforated and back-lit metal panels wrap the building façade, while a front wall of windows allows passersby to see the brightly lit scene inside. High-contrast materials including glass, Venetian plaster, steel, walnut and polished concrete create a gallery-like setting inside Westime Sunset. Free-floating display cases on the ground floor allow customers to browse the watch and jewelry collections. Of course, the watches inside the large gleaming glass cases are also architecturally stunning in their own right.
