West Hollywood has a new addition in the world of Greek food. George’s Greek Grill, also known as G4, which stands for George’s Greek Grill’s fourth location. Currently, they have three very successful locations in downtown Los Angeles.
I took notice of George’s on a Sunday evening as I walked through boy’s town (a small straight forward designed grill) that was packed with quite the crowd. The following Thursday I decided to stop into George’s for lunch with a friend to see what all the hype was about. It was 2:30 in the afternoon with 10 people in line. As I looked over the menu, I over heard a guy saying “that he had been there everyday, since they had opened.”
As I got to the front of the line, there were three lovely glass decanters with offerings of fresh drinks. The selection consisted of: the Watermelon Cooler, the Cucumber Limeade and the Happy Hibiscus. All were delicious, but I am a dedicated fan to the Cucumber Limeade.
Getting down to business I began my ordering with the Angus Beef Kabob ($16) that was kabob style angus beef medallions in lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil and spices that includes rice and salad. I can honestly say it was one of the best I have ever had. The meat was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was delicious and not overdone. I also ordered a side of their Cilantro Jalapeno Hummus ($5), which has a blend of lime, salt, olive oil, cilantro and Jalapeno. Delicious and addictive, it’s a must try. My friend that was with me ordered the Mediterranean Grilled Cheese ($9), which was a flavorful blend of melted feta and mozzarella cheese topped with a garlic herb aioli. Served with a tasty tomato soup I encourage you to stop in for this one on our next rainy day. As we over heard others talking, rumor has it that the Gyro is very popular.
So the next time you want a quick, casual and affordable lunch or dinner in West Hollywood, make this your next stop. You’ll be glad you did. If you’re looking for a mid-day snack, be sure to check out the juice and smoothie bar, which offers a little bit of everything.
George’s Greek Grill is located at 8807 Santa Monica Blvd. 310.360.0222
