Celebrating its 15thyear, G’Day USA (www.gdayusa.org) is celebrating a month-long pop-up in the newly revamped Westfield Century City, showcasing Australian fashion and lifestyle brands. For the first time in 2018, G’Day USA—where the U.S. and Australia meet—will host ‘Aussie Collective,’ an innovative pop-up store featuring quintessential Aussie brands that are expanding their presence in the United States.
“What a year it will be next year as we continue to showcase the best Australia has to the vast audiences across the United States. In its 15th year, G’Day USA has become Australia’s premier public and economic diplomacy platform,” said the Honorable Julie Bishop MP, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs.
With a strong synergy between Los Angeles and Australia, the store will cater to jetsetters and locals alike, seeking out unique Australian fashion, fitness and beauty finds for the New Year. Open to the public during mall hours, Aussie Collective will feature uniquely Australian items from a number of emerging and established brands including Gorman, Kirrikin, Swisse, Teamm8, Tony Bianco, Kip + Co, Incy,MJ Bale, Pared Eyewear, Vie Active and Elyptol. The approximately 1,000-square foot retail space will feature a variety of Australian born products including clothing, active wear, shoes and accessories, as well as home goods and beauty/wellness products.
Visitors to the store will also have the chance to win a uniquely Australian travel experience, curated by the award-winning family-owned Sirromet Winery. The lucky winner of the Sirromet Trip Experience Giveawaywill receive an all-inclusive trip to Australia’s Gold Coast including luxurious accommodation, wakeboarding, wine tastings, V8 Supercar experiences, and much more.
Special G’Day USA events will also be held at Westfield Century City throughout the month ranging from a highly anticipated yoga activation, to a star-studded G’Day USA concert and an exciting event with Tennis Australia.
The yoga activation will take place on January 14th at Westfield Century City’s new outdoor event space, the Atrium. Presented by leading wellness brand Swisse, yogis and yoga enthusiasts alike will have a chance to take a free class with Australian fitness guru, certified yoga instructor and model Ashley Hart. Vie Active will also showcase their performance-driven, stylish activewear at the event.
Marking Australia Day on January 26th, G’Day USA will also present a series of events at Westfield including the Tennis Australia Australian Open Experience and Australia Day Concert. Both events are open to the public. The tennis event will allow attendees to experience the road to the Australian Open firsthand, with highlights from the Australian Open in Melbourne, live interviews with tennis pros, unique tennis activations, special guest appearances and giveaways. The night will continue with a concert featuring headline Australian musical talent.
The G’Day USA January program also includes the annual US-Australian Dialogue on Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific on January 26th, presented in partnership with the University of Sydney’s US Studies Centre, the University of Western Australia’s Perth USAsia Centre and the RAND Corporation. In addition, the calendar will include the return of the G’Day USA Film Industry Showcase, featuring a special advance screening of the new Columbia Pictures family, hybrid animated movie, Peter Rabbit, on January 28th.
On January 27th, G’Day USA presents the 15th Anniversary G’Day USA Gala at the Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown, featuring a star-studded celebrity red carpet. The event will celebrate three exceptional Australians who have made their mark in the entertainment industry. Honorees this year include Actress Margot Robbie, one of Time Magazine’s most influential people for 2017, with recent films including Suicide Squad and The Wolf of Wall Street. Emmy award-winning Producer Bruna Papandrea, whose recent successes include the highly acclaimed series Big Little Lies and the film Gone Girl will receive an award for Outstanding Achievement in Film and TV. Oscar-winning actor Heath Ledger will also be honored posthumously with a G’Day USA Lifetime Achievement award.
G’Day USA Champion, actress and director Rachel Griffiths will partner with actor and Australian Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia, to co-host the awards show and dinner, featuring a menu curated by Australian chef Curtis Stone. Australian television personality Richard Wilkins will return as MC.
Further events will be held in cities across the United States throughout 2018.
