67 Photographs Affirm Queer Life, Freedom, and Culture and
Make This One of the Largest-Ever Queer Group Photo Exhibitions
The City of West Hollywood’s WeHo Arts program, presents Round Hole Square Peg, an international LGBTQ photography exhibition that portrays the LGBTQ community in all of its luminous diversity. The exhibition runs through Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Plummer Park’s Long Hall, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard.
Joey Salehi received the Emerging West Hollywood Photographer award for the Round Hole Square Peg exhibition. Salehi’s photograph was selected by Chris Davies, Fabrik Project Gallery Director and producer of the Photo Independent Art Fair. Visionaire (photo, left) epitomizes the creativity that is all around our community. This is the third iteration of Round Hole Square Peg, a biennial, on-going quest to discover fresh LGBTQ visual archetypes.
This uplifting exhibition affirms contemporary queer life, freedom, and culture through 50+ photographs selected by notable LGBTQ artists, curators and gallerists. Nearly 600 images were entered from nine different countries. Each image was carefully juried and fifty artists had their work printed and framed especially for this show.
Jurors Laura Aguilar, Paul Bridgewater, Zackary Drucker, Bert Green, Robert Summers, and Phil Tarley evaluated hundreds of images from nine countries to select the 50 artist-photographers selected for presentation. A curated Wall of Fame of top LGBTQ photographic artists, hanging on the outer walls of the gallery, makes this one of the largest group exhibitions of queer photography ever staged. There are 59 photographers showing 67 photographs hung in the Long Hall Gallery. Viewing hours are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. An appointment to see the exhibition outside of gallery hours can be made by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
This exhibition is co-sponsored by the Tom of Finland Foundation and Fabrik Magazine and presented in conjunction with West Hollywood Lifestyle Magazine. More information about the exhibit here: roundholesquarepegshow.com
